These are just a few of the people you’ll meet in THE STRANGE NAME MOVIE, a film about people living with names that just can’t help calling attention to themselves.

You know the folks we’re talking about.

The kid who lived in fear of morning roll-call at school. The teenaged girl assailed by cruel nicknames. The executive who reflexively braces herself for disbelief or jokes when making a hotel reservation or business call. People whose names profoundly affect every facet of their experience, from grade school, to their professional lives, to their dating habits.

Well, have you ever wondered what it’s actually like being Al Dente? Feeling pressure to live up to “Studley”? Waking up each day knowing you’re a Putz? So did we.

So… We embarked on a quest to identify the Hookers and Clutzes among us, find their (often unlisted) phone numbers, and convince them not to hang up when we expressed curiosity about a topic they were – understandably -- sick and tired of talking about.   

Happily, our charm, persistence,  honesty and respectful attitude paid off. Most of the people we contacted did hang up, often with a few choice expletives.

But many heard us out and, ultimately, opened up.

Their candor made THE STRANGE NAME MOVIE possible. They freely shared their experiences with us, and now we looking forward to introducing them to you.
